Course Overview

The Finding Waterways Toolkit aims to demonstrate best practice when responding to children and young people when problematic or harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB) have been displayed. The focus of the toolkit is specifically on secondary-level preventative responses.

Prioritising the secondary level of prevention is guided by emerging research that early detection and immediate and appropriate adult intervention will have considerable influence in supporting children, young people and families as they grapple with what has occurred.

The cumulative outcome is seeking to circumvent ongoing behaviour occurring or the behaviour moving to a level of increased concern. Responding to PHSB is underscored by a focus on the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people impacted by the behaviour that has been displayed.

The toolkit provides a suite of information and practical resources that seek to assist early and meaningful responses to occur when PHSB has been displayed.
